Aspirations and Business Objectives
Building on the successful development and current operation of three healthy living centres (see Projects) for NHS Medway, Medway Community Estates has a current Business Plan with aims and objectives summarised as follows:
- To continue to provide a quality and value for money property development and facilities management services to NHS Medway through the existing facilities and the three planned new developments (see Projects).
- To consider and progress new areas of property development with all of our existing partners and to embrace new partner opportunities such as GP’s and other independent health and social care providers.
- To expand our existing operations to other public sector bodies and offer NHS Medway and other Participants a wider estate and asset management service, which could involve:
- Provide options and solutions to ensure properties are fit to support commissioning strategies.
- Undertake audits of existing properties, both owned and leased, to ensure optimum utilisation and return on capital employed.
- Establish and implement rationalisation and/or disposal programmes
- Manage buildings and estates on behalf of our partners so they may focus on providing and commissioning core services.
- Actively seek to secure development partners and joint occupiers to provide income generation to improve the affordability of new projects.
- Seek to secure grants and other cross subsidies where possible.
Medway Community Estates recognise the constraints placed on public finance for all of its partners and wants to play a positive part in the process of achieving efficiencies and better value for money.
As a public sector provider, Medway Community Estates fully embraces the duty of care it has to those who occupy, work, visit or receive treatment at our facilities. The company takes this responsibility seriously and constantly reviews and improves it’s procedures and practices to ensure the health, safety and well being of these people at all times.
